Terms & Conditions

Last updated: September 2026

Welcome to the Reception Class Teacher Network (RCTN) website. These Terms and Conditions explain the terms on which you may use our website, resources, events and online community.

By accessing or using this website, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the website.

1. About RCTN

The Reception Class Teacher Network (RCTN) is a professional network supporting teachers and other adults working with children in Reception Classes and early childhood education in primary settings.

RCTN aims to provide a joyful professional community that supports positive, purposeful, developmentally appropriate and ethical practice. We bring teachers, researchers and other early childhood professionals together to share knowledge, experience, evidence and resources.

RCTN is volunteer run charitablee organisation (charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) registration pending).

Our charity number is [pending].

For questions about these Terms and Conditions, please contact us at info@receptionclassteachernetwork.org

2. Using the RCTN website

You may use this website for lawful professional, educational and personal purposes.

You agree not to:

  • use the website for any unlawful or fraudulent purpose;

  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website, its systems or other users' information;

  • interfere with the operation or security of the website;

  • knowingly introduce viruses, malicious code or other harmful material;

  • copy, reproduce or commercially exploit RCTN content without permission;

  • impersonate another person or organisation; or

  • use the website or RCTN community spaces to harass, discriminate against, threaten or otherwise harm another person.

We reserve the right to restrict or suspend access to the website or particular services where we reasonably believe these Terms and Conditions have been breached.

3. RCTN membership and participation

Membership or registration for RCTN activities does not create an employment, agency, partnership or contractual relationship between RCTN and the member beyond the services and activities expressly described by RCTN.

RCTN may update its membership arrangements, activities and services from time to time.

We aim to provide accurate information about meetings, events and activities, but dates, speakers, programmes and other arrangements may occasionally need to change.

4. Events and meetings

RCTN may provide online and/or in-person professional learning meetings, events, discussions and other activities.

When participating in an RCTN event, you agree to contribute respectfully and professionally and to respect the confidentiality of discussions where this is requested.

Some RCTN activities may include facilitated small-group discussions. Participants should not share identifiable or confidential information about children, families, colleagues or settings.

RCTN reserves the right to ask a participant to leave an event or community space where their behaviour is inappropriate, discriminatory, threatening, abusive or otherwise inconsistent with the values of the network.

Where an event is recorded, photographed or otherwise documented, RCTN will provide appropriate information about this in advance or at the point of participation, where practicable.

5. Professional discussion and safeguarding

RCTN provides opportunities for professional discussion and the sharing of experiences. Contributions made by participants represent the views and experiences of those individuals and do not necessarily represent the views of RCTN.

RCTN is not able to provide individual professional, legal, medical, safeguarding or other specialist advice through its website or community activities.

Participants remain responsible for ensuring that their own professional practice complies with relevant legislation, statutory guidance, professional requirements and the policies of their employer or setting.

You must not use RCTN discussion spaces to disclose information that could identify an individual child, family or colleague.

Where a contribution raises a serious safeguarding or other concern, RCTN may need to take appropriate action in accordance with its safeguarding and other organisational policies.

6. RCTN resources and intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, the content of this website, including text, graphics, logos, photographs, videos, downloads and other materials, belongs to RCTN or is used by RCTN with permission.

RCTN resources are provided to support professional learning and development.

You may:

  • view and use RCTN resources for your own professional learning;

  • share links to RCTN webpages; and

  • use resources in your own educational or professional context where the resource permits this.

You must not reproduce, alter, republish, distribute or commercially exploit RCTN materials without prior permission, unless the resource specifically states otherwise.

Where resources have been created by external contributors, authors or partner organisations, copyright and other intellectual property rights may belong to those contributors. Any conditions attached to their resources must also be respected.

If you wish to reproduce or use RCTN content beyond personal or professional use, please contact us at info@receptionclassteachernetwork.org

7. Contributions from users

RCTN may invite teachers, researchers and other members of the early childhood community to contribute comments, resources, photographs, stories, examples of practice or other materials.

By submitting material to RCTN, you confirm that:

  • you have the right to share the material;

  • it does not knowingly infringe another person's copyright, privacy or other rights;

  • you have obtained any permissions that are necessary;

  • it does not contain unnecessary personally identifiable information; and

  • it is appropriate for the professional community in which it will be shared.

You retain ownership of your original work. By submitting material to RCTN, you give RCTN permission to use, reproduce and share that material for the purposes of operating, promoting and developing the network, unless a different arrangement has been agreed with you.

RCTN may choose not to publish or may remove material that does not meet our values, policies or professional standards.

8. Accuracy of information

We aim to ensure that information published on the website is accurate, useful and up to date. However, we cannot guarantee that all information will always be complete, current or free from error.

The website may include professional perspectives, research findings, examples of practice and resources from a range of contributors. These should be considered in context and do not necessarily constitute advice or an endorsement by RCTN.

Where appropriate, users should consult original research, statutory guidance, professional guidance or other authoritative sources before making decisions about practice or policy.

RCTN does not guarantee that resources or information available through the website will be suitable for every setting, child, family or professional context.

9. External websites and resources

The RCTN website may contain links to websites, organisations, research, resources or services provided by third parties.

These links are provided for information and convenience. RCTN does not control external websites and is not responsible for their content, availability, security, privacy practices or terms and conditions.

A link to an external organisation or resource does not necessarily mean that RCTN endorses that organisation, product, service or viewpoint.

10. Privacy and personal information

RCTN respects your privacy and handles personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Please read our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, store and protect personal information.

Where RCTN collects information through registration forms, event bookings, mailing lists, surveys or other activities, we will explain the purposes for which that information is collected and provide any relevant information required under applicable data protection law.

11. Website availability and security

We aim to keep the website available and functioning effectively, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access.

The website may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, technical problems, updates or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have appropriate equipment, software and internet access to use the website.

12. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, RCTN will not be responsible for losses or damage arising from your use of, or reliance upon, information or resources provided through this website where such loss or damage could not reasonably have been anticipated.

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded.

13. Changes to these Terms and Conditions

RCTN may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time to reflect changes to our activities, services, website or legal obligations.

The most recent version will be published on this website with the date of the latest update.

Your continued use of the website after changes have been published constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms and Conditions.
